What IS Regenerative Agriculture?

Relay cropping is planting a new crop into a standing crop that is about to finish it's annual lifecycle. This practice ”passes the baton” from one crop to the next — creating a living root. Later, the first crop is harvested leaving the second crop to continue growing to maturity. There are so many advantages: 1. The farmer is able to get 2 crops in one year and the second crop has a longer window to grow. 2. The second crop shades out any summer weeds that might be on the way, reducing herbicide use 3. The living root provides great nutrition all year round for the billions of tiny creatures underground — increasing the “gut health” of the land

We know there is a link between creating healthier soil and creating healthier food . . . but just how quickly can practices used on the ground affect the nutrient density of the food they grow? Turns out . . . researchers can see changes in nutrient density in as short as one growing season! Just think of all the increased health that could be coming from our food! Working directly with growers who use these regenerative principles -- and have their crops tested for nutrient density, food companies COULD be bringing healthier ingredients to consumers next year.
